Custom Electrical Testing Solutions — B2B Engineering Engagement
2026年05月12日
Off-the-shelf does not always fit. Here is the five-stage custom-instrument engagement model.
When Off-the-Shelf Does Not Fit
Most fleet buyers need standard EK Pro Suite instruments. But large utility, rail, and renewables customers sometimes need custom electrical testing solutions — modified ranges, custom UI, integrated logging, or proprietary connectors. EK Engineering engages on a five-stage B2B model.
Stage 1: Spec Workshop
- EK and customer engineering teams meet (on-site or video).
- Customer's measurement task documented end-to-end.
- Off-the-shelf instrument compared to gap.
- Custom delta defined: ranges, UI, accessories.
- Output: spec document signed by both sides.
Stage 2: NRE Quote
EK quotes Non-Recurring Engineering cost (firmware, mechanical, calibration jig, certification re-test) and amortisation per unit at a defined volume. Customer approval required before Stage 3.
Stage 3: Prototype
- 3 - 5 prototype units delivered in 8 - 12 weeks.
- Customer evaluates against original spec for 30 days.
- Sign-off or revision loop.
- Iteration window: usually 1 - 2 cycles.
Stage 4: Qualification
- Full IEC 61010 safety re-certification.
- CAT rating verified by third party.
- Calibration jig built and validated.
- Production line trained.
Stage 5: Production
First production lot 50 - 100 units, full QC. Subsequent lots scale to forecast. EK guarantees 7-year support and spare parts for the custom variant.
Typical Use Cases
- Rail traction: custom DC range to 4 kV.
- Wind turbine: high-altitude derating + insulation tester variant.
- Marine: full IP67 sealing + salt-fog tested.
- Substation OEM: branded EK-G645 + EK-C350 + EK-C300 bundle.
